Roman's Story: From chasing success to serving others
Roman, 42, once believed achievement could fill the emptiness inside. Today, he serves families in need in Drochia, Moldova, but the road between those two lives nearly cost him everything.10th April 2026
A respected family, a hollow faith
Roman grew up in a respected family where religion was part of tradition — something you participated in from time to time. But it never touched the heart.
"Success, money, influence — those were the things that truly mattered. I believed that if I achieved enough, I would be satisfied. I didn't feel I needed God."
Business failure. Shame. Running.
After several business failures, everything Roman had worked for collapsed. Ashamed, he went abroad to try to rebuild — believing that material recovery would lead to emotional recovery too.
While abroad, he attended Christian camps — but for the atmosphere, the music, the people. Not for God. His heart was still closed.

Summer 2004 — nearly drowned
At the seaside with his family, Roman was pulled under by the water. He truly believed those were his last moments.
He survived. He knew it wasn't by chance. That day, he gave his life to Christ.
From emptiness to belonging
Youth meetings were held in his family home while his parents were abroad. The music, friendships, and prayers brought something unexpected.
In 2007, he married a young Christian woman devoted to serving the Lord. Through her faith, he felt God calling him not just to believe — but to serve.
A promise kept, a life surrendered
Today Roman walks alongside vulnerable families through Mission Without Borders, sharing hope with those facing despair — people who, like him, have experienced failure, fear, and uncertainty.
"When I sit with someone who feels hopeless, I remember the water closing over me. I remember that desperate prayer. And I know that the same God who rescued me can rescue them too."
"Working for the Mission is more than a job. It is the fulfilment of a promise I made in the darkest moment of my life."
