Sergiu's Story
Sergius story serving as a Mission coordinator in Moldova, bringing hope to children and families through faith and practical care.10th April 2026
Sergiu lives in Palanca, Moldova, where he serves as a coordinator for Mission Without Borders, working closely with children and families in need. His journey of faith began with curiosity and transformed into a life devoted to sharing God's love.
"My first encounter with the Word of God came as a teenager. Someone told me a story from Greek mythology about Samson and Heracles. It sparked my curiosity, and for the first time, I began thinking about spiritual things."
Later, while working in a Christian collective, colleagues tried to talk to him about God. Sergiu stubbornly resisted, convinced he could prove them wrong. Yet somehow, he began to read the Bible on his own. When he reached the book of Revelation, the fear of divine judgment overwhelmed him – and he prayed his first prayer.
He also faced a challenge closer to home: his wife firmly told him she would never come to God. But Sergiu held onto hope, and life continued. He attended church only a few times before stopping altogether. Still, God's timing was perfect.
On the eve of his 30th birthday, a clear thought came to him – leading to that third prayer. That very day, a pastor unexpectedly came to their door, inviting them to an evangelism event in a neighboring town. His wife, who had resisted God for so long, was enthusiastic about going.
"The morning of my birthday, we walked into the church together. When the call came to follow Jesus, I knew God had answered my prayers. I looked for my wife, and from the balcony, she nodded, and we both stepped forward, surrendering our lives to the Lord together."
At the end of the event, Sergiu shared with joy: "My three prayers have been fulfilled: I came to God among strangers, together with my wife, on my birthday."
As his faith grew, so did his courage to share it. Early on, he felt too ashamed to speak about God with others. A church member encouraged him – even a warm handshake or a hug can share God's love. That was enough to unlock something in Sergiu.
Sergiu is also deeply moved by the tangible impact of God's love through the Mission. Once, while distributing food to families living in extreme poverty, he saw the joy in their eyes when help arrived – right when their food had run out.
"Moments like that fill my heart with gratitude and remind me why we serve."
Today, Sergiu continues to carry the gospel forward, living as a testimony of God's grace. Through his work with Mission Without Borders, he demonstrates that faith is not only a personal journey but a source of hope, healing, and transformation for entire communities.
